There are only a handful of Canadian Crib Manufacturers, Why does KIDS carry Canadian Manufacturers ONLY? - Canadian manufacturers meet all Canadian and US standards for safety.  Finishes are strictlly controlled for Lead and Pthalate levels.  More importantly,  we are proud to offer manufacturers that have never had any recalls at all....not even one!

What should I consider when purchasing a crib? - Consider the quality of the product and how it will be used by your child over time.  Many Cribs can be converted to a daybed and then to a Full size (double) bed so you can continue to use them for years to come.

Do All Canadian companies make all the cribs in Canada? - NO, NO, NO! Do not be fooled.  Although Canadian cribs are available from the manufacturers that we offer; many companies that are based in Canada and the US actually import the products from Asia where the cost of labour is much less. Although much has been done to address the skill level of the workers there; the attention to detail and the level of quality is different.

Are Canadian products more expensve? -  KIDS offers several programs to help offset the extra cost of the Canadian products (Click here for deatils).  It is up to you to decide if the price difference is worth the increase in quality and potential safety. 

I have heard that even the Canadian manufacturers do not make their cribs here? -  Many cribs offered by KIDS are actually made right here in Canada.  That means that they are cut here from either Canadian or US wood, they are assembled here, sprayed here and safety inspected right here in Canada.  Some of the cribs offered by our Canadian manufacturers are cut in Slovenia from Russian wood.  However, they are then shipped here to Canada for spraying and safety inspection. 
A few of the maufacturers do offer an option where some of their crib styles can be cut and sprayed offshore. Meaning you can get the Canadian version or the offshore version of the same crib to offer the consumer a better price.  However, given that these manufacturers conform to BOTH the mandatory and Voluntary Canadian and US safety standards; even these offshore cribs must be sent out for indeprndent lab testing. They are Voluntarily and  independently tested for Lead and Pthalate levels along with Voluntary rigorous structural testing and entanglement testing. All these independent tests are far above the mandatory safety levels that may be present in import cribs.
